That would be an exciting thing! Date: 12/05/12 15:58 Re: Steam trains to Santa Cruz Author: Harlock I think you could get by with a veggie oil burner like the one at GCRR.

Not to disrupt a good two-minutes-hate, but you've heard of the Roaring Camp & Big Trees, right? http://roaringcamp.com/ Date: 12/06/12 11:13 Re: Steam trains to Santa Cruz Author: doge_of_pocopson Thanks Evan. California bashing is so easy 'round here, and so often ignores facts. B

Been on them also. But, to a Santa Cruzian, they do not exist. They are hidden in the redwoods, next to the pot plants, not to be seen. If you had a 4-6-0 running from the Boardwalk to Davenport and back, they would find something wrong with it, believe me.....unless powered by sunshine. I mean, if Santa Cruzians are letting a steam-powered railroad exist within 5 miles of Santa Cruz, is their level of irrational passion for the envirionment really on a par with a regime that undertook a campaign of world domination and mass murder in an attempt to exterminate all followers of a particular religion? I don't doubt that some Santa Cruz residents might raise concerns, reasonable and unreasonable, and attempt to block efforts to run steam into downtown Santa Cruz. With two tourist railroads already running and a local economy that relies on tourism, though, I'm guessing the bar might not be as high as you're suggesting. I hope we get to find out, one way or another. |
