Steam & Excursion > SP #9 on TVDate: 09/29/13 15:12 SP #9 on TV Author: lynnpowell FYI. I just saw "Blazing Sun", a 1950 Gene Autry movie, on the Encore Western Channel. The last 10-minutes of the movie were filmed on the SP narrow gauge, and 4-6-0 #9 played a starring role! They show the old films over and over, so by keeping an eye out on the viewer guide, you might be able to catch a glimpse of #9 in all her glory. (She wore no fake make-up!)

They used 4-6-0s #8 and #9, plus placed the number "9" behind the #8 to make locomotive "68". Lots of SP action scenes at Owenyo and Keeler (which was named Wheeler) in the film.
