Steam & Excursion > Does anybody remember this Kentucky steam trip?

Seriously. I have slides of this trip and don't remember a thing. The year is 1987 and this is L&N 152 and the MONON BL-2 running a round trip from Paris, KY to Maysville on the TTI. The first picture I know is at Maysville, KY. The rest, who knows? Maybe you?

The third one is at Flemingsburg Jct., Ky. That station seemed to be preserved at the time but has since been torn down. I was on these trips, too.

I seem to recall an excursion over that line with the steam engine but without the BL2.

The trip I'm kicking myself in missing was also at about that same time. It involved that steam engine and it ventured down into the coal fields of southeastern Kentucky and into western Virginia.

This was a four-day outing - Oct. 9 deadhead Louisville to Paris, 10-11 Paris - Maysville RTs, then back to Louisville on the 12th.

It was the first of 152's two trips to the TTI, the other being May 1988.

Both were instigated by Rep. Pete Worthington, Speaker Pro Tem of the state House, who represented the area.

What is the status of the 152 now. Pretty little engine.

152 went out of service in 2011 for its 1472 inspection.

Here she is on KRM's New Haven Ky. branch back on May 28,2011.
