Pretty Girls & Trains - Some Things Never Change!
Author: LoggerHogger

A recent post reminded me of this classic publicity photo using Virginia & Truckee #22 and a moder "Streamliner" diesel with 2 pretty girls of each era to show how much things have changed but also how much they have stayed the same.

Perhaps one of our readers can tell us what the event was they are celebrating.

I believe someone needs to give that girl a rod.

Interesting, to say the least. The 4-4-0 doesn't have a piston rod, crosshead, nor main rod.

No OSHA safety cables anywhere nor safety harnesses, probably no roughcoat on their shoe soles either and they aren't wearing hardhats or reflective tape on their clothing. This could be worse than the Hindenburg crash !!!

Was this a publicity shot for the movie Union Pacific?

Maybe at LAUPT in 1939. Appears to be UP #1 or #2 steam turbine behind the 4-4-0.

On second thought, it may be SF-1 or LA-1 in the backround.

Dave Kloke's pretty wife poses with his then new, gleaming Leviathan at 2009's Train Festival in Owosso, Mich.

Didn't she run the special Leviathan gift store at New Freedom, Pa. During Leviathan week?
