Steam & Excursion > Almost Timeless - CVL 4070Date: 02/14/14 08:53 Almost Timeless - CVL 4070 Author: refarkas It is 10/27/1979 near Akron, Ohio on the Cuyahoga Valley Line (Now CVSR), and CVL 4070 (ex-GTW 4070) is southbound with a string of mostly heavyweight passenger cars. If you couldn't read the lettering on the tender, this could easily be mistaken for an October shot in the glory days of steam.

It has been a long, long time but I can still hear her storming up the grade into Akron, her CN 4 chime whistle echoing through the valley.

end consist. All heavyweights of one color. No heads out the doors or windows. Simply a great period photo. Date: 02/14/14 16:50 Re: Almost Timeless - CVL 4070 Author: DRGWMark Great photo with a touch with a timelessness!
Great-looking engine, too. Where is she now? Keep on steamin'! Mark H. Date: 02/15/14 01:17 Re: Almost Timeless - CVL 4070 Author: Margaret_SP_fan I agree with the others -- your photo is gorgeous
AND timeless. Love that everything looked as though you stepped into a time machine set to the 1940s in Ohio. A superb photo! Thank you. Date: 02/15/14 05:32 Re: Almost Timeless - CVL 4070 Author: refarkas Thanks for all the positive comments. I believe CVL 4070 is in the process of being restored. I'd love to see her steam through the Cuyahoga Valley again.
Bob Date: 02/15/14 07:16 Re: Almost Timeless - CVL 4070 Author: mopacrr There was a two day trip back in fall of 1988 with the 4070 down to Akron. There was night photo session under a very long arched Hi-way bridge ,complete with flood lights. It was one the best trips I have ever been on.
