Alco's to the Grand Canyon Today
Author: jmw

The GCR will be running two trains to the Canyon today and one of them will have the Alco/MLW FPA & B set on the point.

If you're in the area stop by the Williams Depot and experience the Alco's 09:30 departure.

Sorry for the crappy camera phone image but it's the best I could do today!

jmw- Your pic looks good to me. Don't get to see enough of the GCRR FA's! And… it's about time they started running these classic diesels again!

There were enough riders to warrant two trains today.

One of the F40FH's went down last night or this morning so the Alco's were called in.

That's how the GCR should run everyday! Those alco's still have a lot of life left in them. Great pic. Great looking train!

Try running one. They're terrible. I dreaded the days I got ALCos over the F40s, even if it was just a B unit with an F40 leading.

You have to have finesse, treat them like your first love, not a point and shoot camera :)

No amount of finesse fixes the fumes leaking from the engine room to the cab or the fact that there's no dynamic braking.
