Steam & Excursion > Chessie 2101Date: 07/13/14 16:47 Chessie 2101 Author: refarkas Trailing a train of all Chessie System-painted passenger cars, Chessie System 2101 (ex-RDG 2101) heads south to Sterling, Ohio on the morning of 07/02/1977. The skies are blue, and railfans are at many locations, but here 2101 and her train steam in all their splendor away from the crowds. Soon she would turn west, and the light would no longer be on her nose. But as for now, the images rarely get better lit than this.

Safe down here? Funny, it doesn't bother me, but if it did - I would say a Reading engine running for Chessie looks more out of place then the Chessie paint scheme on a steam engine itself. At risk of a flame war - it looked kind of cool, still. Add the matching set of passenger cars - just sweet! /Mitch Date: 07/13/14 22:36 Re: Chessie 2101 Author: coach And look: no diesels!

I especially like the big sign on the front that says "Chessie Steam Special". Pic was taken two years before I was born, but those would have been good days. Edited 3 time(s). Trust me, those were not just "good days," they were Great Days. A powerful locomotive and great people running the engine and great folks from the Chessie System. Some of my happiest and most memorable railfan outings were chasing those trains.
