Steam & Excursion > 491 will be under steam at Colorado RR Museum on 8/30Date: 08/17/14 18:35 491 will be under steam at Colorado RR Museum on 8/30 Author: mcdeo I didn't see this listed, so I'll post it. 491, D&RGW Narrow Gauge K-37 will be back under steam for public viewing on Saturday 8/30. If you want a sneak peak, you can start the viewing on Friday, for a price.

Date: 08/18/14 08:18 Re: 491 is under steam at CRRM Author: Mgoldman Would've been nice to spell it out, but no biggie.
I've come across a lot of newspaper articles on Google that do not state the state where an event at a particular city is occurring. A bit annoying having to do some detective work - but again, not a big deal. Great news. Thanks for the heads up! /Mitch Date: 08/18/14 08:24 Re: 491 is under steam at CRRM Author: Mgoldman "Opportunity to be among the first to ride behind newly restored Locomotive No. 491 since the 1963!"
Not to be confused with: Rio Grande Southern No. 20 (N) Built in 1899, RGS No. 20 ran on the Florence & Cripple Creek Railroad southwest of Pikes Peak. Named Portland after a profitable mine in the Cripple Creek District, No. 20 hauled freight and passengers. It was sold to Rio Grande Southern in 1916 after flash floods destroyed much of the F&CC, putting that line out of business. In operation until 1951, No. 20 was purchased by the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club and eventually donated to the Museum. It is currently undergoing restoration in Strasburg, Pennsylvania. http://coloradorailroadmuseum.org/museum-home/locomotives/ /Mitch Date: 08/18/14 10:16 Re: 491 is under steam at CRRM Author: cchan006 PHall Wrote:

The difference is, Californians are held to a higher standard. Colorado folks haven't done the who-when-where-why routine to us that much, if at all, so let's not make new enemies. Your targets are further east! :-) On a more serious note, it's great to see a K-37 coming back to steam. I thought there was another K-37, which Cumbres & Toltec or Durango & Silverton has? I don't recall hearing that one running lately. Date: 08/18/14 15:34 Re: 491 is under steam at CRRM Author: nycstl PHall Wrote:

No I am not one that get on other people who don't give the who, when, where and why. And for your information I am not a local either. If you could get on the thread to complain at least you could read what others say first. Sometimes I wonder, other times I'm sure. Out Date: 08/18/14 18:30 Re: 491 is under steam at CRRM Author: mcdeo 497 is back on property of the C&TS, in Chama. (Was traded back several years ago for the non working 482.Which is now working at D&S) I believe they have no plans to bring her back. 4 of the K-36's handle the schedule, including the training classes. And with the K-27 back up and running, no need for more engines. Kind of a shame. That and 483 is planned to be stuffed and mounted in Chama for display.
I'm going down to D&S this week and they had only 2 trains running. I remember when they ran 4 daily trains. Not sure how popular the railroads are today compared to how they used to be. I'm sure people traffic ebb and flows. Welcome to our slowly dying hobby, and bravo, CRRM!
