SP's Mt class engines had a lot going for them in the looks department, as well as the performance department. Too bad none were saved.

For sure, Bob. I never saw one of those run but they look just as awesome as the NYCS Mohawks. 4-10-2s were great engines.

True, it is, Jim. Central's L3a's were as handsome a class of engines, as ever there was. I'd throw in the Boston & Maine's R1d 4-8-2's, as well. Magnificent!

Sorry, I meant to type "4-8-2" and many roads had great ones. OT, but I loved the looks of RF&P 4-8-4s, as well.

And those engines had air horns.I would guess all SP large engines had air horns, including cab forwards.
