Cheyenne Roundhouse being "cleaned out".
Author: HotWater

Well, it was just a matter of time before the Cheyenne Model railroad Club would be evicted from the the Roundhouse. This comes as part of the "clean-up" and the effort to reduce information leaks to the "outside".

The clean-up includes discarding the boiler jacketing from 838 (which has never even been exposed to rainy weather) and the jacketing from 5518. Also being discarded are various boiler tools, spare parts for the Onan Generators, and various spare parts for the Vapor steam generators.

Why the "big clean-up"? The current manager wants to move the Steam Shop down to Denver, and thus get out of "Steve Lee's town"!

So, for all practical purposes the steam program is dead. Hard to believe Omaha is oblivious to what's going on.

I'm not so sure that "Omaha is oblivious" any longer. Seems the attorneys for the two lawsuits have been in Omaha recently, taking depositions for those managers associated with the two cases, ESPECIALLY that sexual harassment case.

Thanks, I went back and corrected my original post to reflect #838. All those "hanger queen" 800 class numbers seem to get me confused.

Is there even a facility in Denver comparable to Cheyenne?
Or does E. D. Want to be closer to home?

No. The Denver Shop is a GE overhaul facility.

That is mostly the issue, besides he can't seem to get anything done in "Steve Lee's town", especially with all the leaks of truthful information as to what is REALLY going on in Cheyenne. He never like Cheyenne anyway.

It just gets worse everyday. I can't understand how this has been allowed to happen.

How incredibly sad, destroying a program that has such an impressive history!

I know when I worked there the UP didn't have another 80" drop table on the system. I believe that GE is using Burnham shops for their work on the UP locos. So I am not sure where else he would go down there.

Man the dude should just quit. Nasty. The 838 jacket if he tosses it it is a GD shame he didnt offer it to 833 in Ogden! that one DID get exposed to the elements for many years and it is ruined. 838s jacket probably could be made to work on it. Ed Dickens the steam worlds abomination..

If it and tools are going in the dumpster without being sold/auctioned off, someone who owns stock should be phoning up UP HQ and threatening a shareholder lawsuit for failing to deliver value to the shareholders by failing to obtain value from these "rare" items... that will probably start getting attention real quick.

The next thing we will read is all of the locomotives will be in the new railroad museum in Denver, never to run again. Then the roundhouse will be bulldozed down.

PLEASE if anyone knows a reporter, can make calls to Omaha, can do anything to get this exposed. This jackass needs to be stopped. What is the phone number to the shop? I will call the son of a ***** myself and ask why. In fact it should be posted here on TO, along with the phone number for the "right" person in Omaha who can stop Der Leader. Everyone on TO should call every hour and ask why is the steam program is being destroyed.

This is BS. Der Leader if you are reading this, you need to quit what you are doing right now, get the heck out of Cheyenne, and go home to the girlfriend you brought from CA, and never come back......disappear. Go fine something else to destroy, like a smaller gauge train...oh wait, that happened....

I went to college with this guy. He just got into the field (graduated in May), and a big story like this might be what he could use to catapult up the rankings. Let him know...

EDIT: WOW6 is the NBC affiliate in Omaha. Perfect place for him to be to do this story.

People, much as so many of you faithful think that Omaha is clueless and not listening and unaware, Omaha is running a business and while we railfans may give them "clues", and think that they are dumbshits and clueless, I am very sure that they know exactly what is going on in terms of the management issues surrounding the "dear leader" as you call him and if there is litigation, they aren't going to share anything outside the corporate walls because they can't, shouldn't, won't and it aint any of our damn business in the first place. And you all should realize that when things are in litigation, the wheels turn incredibly slowly------meanwhile, all sorts of perfidy may or may not be happening in Cheyenne and things may or may not be pointing to Denver, but corporate HQ in Omaha ain;t gonna share a damn thing . They can't. won't. shouldn't. So just sit back and be patient as the legal wheels turn, ever so slowly, but inevitably. And bring on more popcorn--------:-)

As has been theorized here before, maybe all this is a very well orchestrated strategy by Omaha to shut down the steam program. Under such a scenario, there will have to be a "villain" or a "fall guy" and maybe the dear leader was the one who drew the short straw.

Stranger things have certainly happened before in the history of railroading.

Why try to terminate the steam program and then spend all the money, time and manpower to move 4014 from LA to Cheyenne?
