The allure's still there
Author: johnacraft

I almost left this location (on the property of the Oakwood Baptist Church north of Chickamauga, GA) when I saw the unruly mob gathered to watch the train pass. I have to give Danah credit for the good sense to stay.

She still pulls a good crowd.

A couple of more conventional photos:

1. Climbing Missionary Ridge in Rossville, GA. How sweet it is to hear that exhaust again, and she's carrying a beautiful whistle.

2. Noble, GA.

If you're planning to shoot any of the remaining trips and are unfamiliar with the line, some guidance here:

I really like photo#1. There's just something about it, those two little girls seem to say it all, you can feel their amazement at what is happening. A great photo thanks for posting it.
There's a steam engine running trips in my town this very day.

Really nice disguise on that diesel, great shots, nice to see people
out appreciating the hard work of the restoration.

Sometimes, that's what it's all about!

Authentic 2014 steam powered excursion.

Nice shots - good to see YOU back in steam, lol.

Have I missed some posts?

What an unruly mob, and what a great photo, John. That's really what this steam stuff is all about. It's not just for the enjoyment of us steam fans. Great to see the real people out enjoying a bit of history.

Thank you John and Danah. I love #1. It's a nice and warm picture. And pardon a slip of my paralyzed finger, I sent a blank.

I gotta admit that I really like photo one also, the young ladies, the rail fans taking photos and the father watch his kids, it just reminds you what all the work is about.
