Steam & Excursion > MRPS Round House GTW 4070 Open House Nov. 29

The next Open House at the Midwest Railway Preservation Society round house is Saturday November 29 from 10 until 4 PM. The location is the former B&O round house which is located at 2800 West 3rd Street in Cleveland. Last week with help from Jason Sobczynski(Thanks Jason!) we completed the ultrasonic thickness testing of the boiler and firebox on GTW 4070 and there is hope that it can be rebuilt to operate, more on that later. This is our last open house for the year. There are many photo opportunities at the round house including the 4070, three diesels, and a large variety of passenger and freight cars. The roundhouse is near the Arcelor Mittal steel mill and CSX Clark Ave. yard and sometimes the CROW and CSX might be switching on tracks that are adjacent to ours. FYI as I write this it is 15 degrees outside,the roundhouse is fully heated.

And I'll bet the heating bill is expensive. Great news about the GTW 4070.

Say, wasn't that Frisco 2-8-2 coming there to be rebuilt?
