Steam & Excursion > Maui steam train to return to service

This morning's L.A. Times travel section reports that Maui businessman Craig Hill has purchased the railroad (Lahaina to Puukolii) and plans to have it back in service sometime in 2015.

That's the story, the interesting tidbit is that he plans to expand it.

Its website says plans to resume "late 2016". but on recent visit there last cupla weeks, scuttlebut was that plans are falling thru and there will be no resumption, sigh. Track all still in place and all rolling stock at shops, but no work being done...equipment to be auctioned?.Residents there advise holiday trains will run this month, but only diesel powered.
