Snoqualmie Falls #6 / Canfor #112 2-6-2T On The Move!
Author: LoggerHogger

This just came in about the new future for former Snoqualmie Falls Lumber #6. She is a BIG (73-tons) Baldwin 2-6-2T that was last used on Vancouver Island by Canadian Forest Products.

"For those of you who have not heard, The engine will be moved to Port Alberni BC. Western Forest Product Co. have donated the engine to the Alberni Pacific Railway and the engine will be moved in the spring. There have already been a couple of work bees by volunteers from the Western Vancouver Island Industrial Heritage Society to strip off some of the weight in preparation for the low bed move. No plan is currently in place for the restoration but it is the wish on the Society to restore the engine and use it in conjunction with the APR # 7 on the tourist railway operation.

Western Forest Products wants to clean up their properties and the engine has been sitting off to the side at the dry land sort in Beaver Cove. She was moved a few years ago to its current site and now they want it out of there. There was some talk of scrapping it and they had interest from another possible purchaser. We had been in discussions with them a few years ago regarding the 113 (it had worked in Port Alberni during the 1930's for the Alberni Pacific Lumber Co. logging operation) and they had donated it to the City of P.A. but when the residents of Woss heard about it they put up a fight and the engine stayed there. We kept in contact with the local management and when the discussion about the disposal of the 112 we started talks to acquire it and were successful."

Let's all wish them all the best.

Here is a shot of it being readied for the move this year.

The second shot shows her being moved a few years ago to her present spot.

Cute little bugger that looks to be very complete where it counts.

It is just my opinion, but I believe we can all thank Stathi Pappas for all the sudden changes being made there. The museum seemed to be in a state of "rusted pleasure" before he stepped up and "took the reins"! I saw what he did at Mt. Rainier Scenic, and I've gotta admit....I like his style of "git 'er done"! Bravo Zulu to all involved! With all that steam power there, it looks very promising that a few of them will be reborn again!

This engine is not in Snoqualmie (it should be) but on Vancouver island.

Have models of this engine been made, or are there published plans?

I think that the bottom line here is it will be under steam again. I know its a bit of a trip but one I would like to make the Island is worth it.
