For the NH&I starved steam fan
Author: Mgoldman

Steam's been out of service most of the year at the New Hope
and Ivyland Railraod in PA due to some maintenance issues with
No. 40. True, the vanguard of near regular weekend steam
operators has elected to curtail it's operation of 2-8-0 #40
somewhat, going forward, but 2014's absence was hard felt
amongst her adoring fans.

To that end, here's a steam fix for y'all from April, 2014.

Looking forward to her return in Spring, 2015!

Priceless! It took me a while to spot the satellite dish on the buildings roof. One look at this and I felt like I was looking at a scene from the 1940's.

I for one, admittedly find it ironic that this year, NH&I's #40 has been down a lot - meanwhile, across the river in NJ, Black River & Western's 2-8-0 #60 has been reliably running for most of her scheduled dates this year. Who would have thought that would be the case five or 10 years ago? Just goes to show what a great job the BRRHT crew has done with getting and keeping #60 up and running well.

I've been a bit confused by one thing - with so little track
time with #40 in 2014, why is it not yet running as hoped?

From RYPN...
"...I will be running trains again this season at the NH&I but sorry to report they'll all be diesel powered.

#40 developed some mechanical issues that could not be corrected in time for the Santa season. Those repairs are under way and I expect # 40 will be back in service sometime in the 1st. quarter next year.

Pleased to report that reservations are very strong and it looks like we may have our best year ever.

Best wishes to all for a blessed Christmas and a healthy, steamy 2015.

Ross Rowland"

I think the question is - if I may - more along the lines of - if she hasn't run that much this year - how has she developed problems? Are they problems that were evident before?
