They are actually taken from the railroad office building platform just adjacent to the station.

That view has changed quite a bit as historically correct fencing was added back in, and the "East Ely" sign and restored garages are now in that view.

Here is a picture taken from the same spot in deep snow with the rotary a few years ago. You can see the same building on the left - which is through to be the old Cherry Creek Depot, then the master mechanic's office after it was moved if I recall correctly. You can now rent the building to stay in for the night.
