They just installed a TransCore tracker on the unit last week, think they are waiting till the night photo shoot.

Didn't they already remove rods and such? Seems like it would be nice to have such a photo shoot before removing parts, no?

I heard they are waiting until the NS gets their DDA40X repainted.

A little thing like missing rods would not deter the night photo artistes; just throw a little fog in there. I think they've done night shoots at VMT with (piston?) rods removed.

I wonder if they have disabled the traction motors on the unit?

I like to think you're not trying to be funny, but that was pretty darn funny shuttletrain.

unit: an individual thing or person regarded as single and complete but which can also form an individual component of a larger or more complex
whole.

And to bring this back on topic, there was a post this morning on the N&W Historical Society email list that not much has changed over the winter and they still aren't giving a special date when she'll move. It's suggested that it may not be until summer.

Only guess I would hazard is it will arrive in Roanoke shortly before 611 so they can prep her for the big photoshoot.

(Rumor mill says they are planning to replicate the famous N&W company photo of the J, A and a Y-6 once they are all in Roanoke.)

A bigger question will be the route she will take. The short way involves the super busy and crew short CNO&TP. The long way add several hundred miles BUT will go former N&W rails all the way from Columbus to Roanoke, which might make for a better PR story.
