2100 departs Washington
Author: Roadrailer

I recieved a heads up this morning that the 2100 was departing the Pasco Yard.
A quick run to the north end (Pasco East) at Selph Landing road netted these pictures with the GECX 2028 leading the PASNTW.

A brief chase for a couple last shots.
The two tenders departed about an hour later on the PASKCK. I was not able to stay to catch those.

I see that the "2100" under the cab window is lined-through. Does that mean that it is going to scrap, like in the old days when a locomotive was "lined-through"?

I don't know what's more symbolic, the white lined number and name on the tender or the hashtag on the firebox...

Ahhh you never know, the 2100 will be a lot closer to Wall Street Recycling which is just down the street from the roundhouse. Maybe we could  cremate the oil burner over at Arcelor Mittal? Anyone want to buy a ticket for that event?

I'm just glad this engine is being returned to the east where she belongs and is getting a 3rd? chance. I hope the people restoring her do a good job and she can operate somewhere on a main line again if the opportunity ever arises. I'm also interested in seeing how bad the damage from the oil conversion really was? This was probably the best news besides 611 and the NS schedule being released this week.

Great Pics Richard! I will post mine later. I think the 2100 was taped over was to avoid confusion with the car number the engine was riding on.

Why were the tenders sent on a different train?  Jsut seem logical to keep everything together.

2100 can't go over Mullen Pass on MRL due to clearance restrictions. It is being routed over the longer high line while the tenders can take the more direct interior route via MRL. They will be reunited at East St. Louis be for heading east on NS to CLE.

Ah uh, someone is reading the BNSF Computer for routing and information.    So now you think you have it all figured out.    bully for you.

2100 is not going via CSXT but rather NS to Cleveland. Stay tuned for more on this project soon.

You are wrong. CSX didn't want any part of the move, according to facts posted by those involved. BNSF will deliver the 2100 to NS in St Louis, and NS will make the "delivering" move to Cleveland.
