MT1 with the Oakland Lark

Mountain type 4307 is from the first batch of 10 locomotives delivered by Alco-Schnectady to the SP in 1923. She is pulling the Oakland section of the Lark #73 past the Fruitvale, California station. Originally she had a 120-c2 tender with four wheel trucks which was replaced by a 120-c3 tender with 6 wheel trucks in 1924 shown here. She received the skyline casing in 1940. This photo is circa 1930.

Note the catenary from the East Bay Electric lines subsidiary of SP.

She still had great looking lines before she 'went to Hollywood' . . . . thanks for posting this rather rare photo . . .

Looks like she has the green boiler jacket and cylinder covers.
