Steam & Excursion > SOO LINE location help neededDate: 04/27/15 18:58 SOO LINE location help needed Author: M-420 A cousin in Wisconsin recently sent me this photo. Soo Line L-2 2-8-2 #1020 is shown in a classic view with various crew men posing on the locomotive.
The fellow sitting on the running board directly under the bell, is my Grandfather. He was a career Soo Line man working out of Stevens Point. Eventually, he became the wreck train foreman. My question is about the location - Does this look like Stevens Point? I am just not sure that this photograph was taken there (even though I have been there a few times over the years). If it's not "Point", can anyone venture a guess? Thanks in advance. Brian E Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/27/15 19:03 by m420. Wonder if the roundhouse is still there?

Due to the two large stacks in the background, I am assuming the facility had a large power plant .... I don't recall the power plant or stacks when visiting Stevens Point, perhaps gone, but perhaps not Stevens Point. Based on that, I would put this at Stevens Point rather than Shoreham. Just my guess.
