Union Pacific 844 current condition pictures

The fan boys over at Union Pacific 3985/844 Info on Facebook posted a bunch of picture of the current condition on 844 and only one picture of 3985. They are claiming illegal modifications and neglect from you guessed it, The old crew. Pretty laughable to read some of the captions from the pictures and what they claim.

Yeah, that is why I try not to associate with any of them anymore. They know not of what they speak.

It's just sad that the sheep keep biting on the untruths hook, line and sinker.

Thanks for everything you and others have done for the UP Steam program Bob. While I only got to see 3985 in North Platte in 08 I followed the program from afar in Illinois.

Make 'em prove anything illegal.  Put up or shut up.

Meanwhile, there are several modifications planned
for 844 that violate several codes and a few laws.

How many years did the old crew run 844 with all the supposed "illegal" modifications? Oh and don't forget the bad water chemistry. Yeah...... Clearly the old crew knew nothing of what they were doing. Too bad there's no giant roll eyes emoticon here.

That Facebook page is such a joke.

I wonder if any of those stooges on that site would be willing to answer the question of WHY all the staybolt caps have been, or are being, removed?

I have copied and created a series of jpgs from the facebook post as well as a power point.  Without commenting on my personal opinons of what has been posted over there, should the TO readers who are not on facebook, wish to see what was posted, I will be happy to create another thread and post them there.   It is 18 images with pictures and comments from the face book page.

I read somewhere, and it may have been in the facebook stuff, that they were being removed to clean them after the boiler water treatment failure. I got a particular kick out of the poster saying the flexible staybolt caps were welded on to keep moisture out of the boiler that could cause corrosion. I'm sure he'd like to take that statement back by now...

It is precisely that many of us do not do the facebook thing that I have prepared what I did.  I think that it is important to get the information about what is being posted out to those who do not do faceboook and shtat sort of things.   Like I said earlier,  if there is some interest, I will post them on a separate thread so as not to clutter up this one.  Better we read what is written than someone else tell us what is there.

Go ahead and do it. I'm sure lots of people would like to see them and give us the correct explanation instead of the BS that Ed's followers are spewing

Yea the old crew did'nt know what they were doing at all ! That' s why the 844 and the 3985 ran pretty much every year with no major problems !  There is no doubt in my mine Steve Lee and company  would have the 4014 up and running a lot faster then the new crew !  Just a thought ....

But,,,,,,Steve Lee and the "old crew" would NOT have needed the 4014, because they had BOTH the 844 as well as 3985 operational!  Thus, the would not have made the "deal" for the 4014  trade in the first place.

You're not alone and it didn't do anything for my business either. Even the Wall Street Jounal says it's not cost effective for your small business when you start paying for extras and ads.

It has always been the current manager's "idea", so that he could "one up" Steve Lee.
