Frisco Steam in Illinois - 1630
Author: SR_Krause

Saturday was a lovely day in Union, IL. At the risk of repeating older posts, a few of the 1630 (and a couple other things).

#1: Pulling out of the station tracks onto the main
#2: Passing the CA&E interurban set at Johnson Siding (I'm shooting from the interurban set)
#3: Picking her way through the station switches

#3: Beating the sand out of the sander pipe (clogged)
#4: Backing down on to the coaches
#5: On the ground to hook onto the coaches

And a couple non-steam:

The Nebraska Zephyr pulling out to get ready for a dinner train
NZ rear car
CA&E electric waiting for her next trip.

A great "way back" quality to that first shot.   Looks like a terrific day.

Great job! I would like to go up there ,but it's a very long way. However, your excellent images are most welcome here on this rainy evening in OK.

The forth picture really shows the wide tires from the regauging. I hear this locomotive can't venture off meseum tracks due to its wide tires and their incompatability with modern track work. Any truth to that?

Self guarding frogs and Russian decapods do not make for a happy mix. There was an article in R&R (I believe) back in the day about the loco leaping through switches on it's way to IRM. She sure looks good and was fun to get a chance at the throttle on a Members Day many years ago.
