Steam & Excursion > Steamtown Grand Opening 20th AnniversaryDate: 07/02/15 20:08 Steamtown Grand Opening 20th Anniversary Author: nycman On this July 4th weekend, we steam fans celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of Steamtown. I know, it isn't what it was then, but for those of us who were there, it was exciting times. I started a thread over in the Nostalgia & History forum a few days ago, but thought I would continue it on here, Steam, where it belongs. The rest of the story for the last few days is at 20 Years Ago (images 509k)

Here are three more from my old files. 261 posed for an excursion, people inspecting 142, and 3254 on the turntable.

I didn't get any stills, just old VHS video, but it was quite a show. 261 was out on an excursion, so the crews of 2317, 3254 and 425 got together and coupled up. They ran three runbys out of the "depot" there. Dave Goodheart was filming, and was about to leave when we fans alerted him to what was going on. Dave got some good footage which he later released in his company video of the grand opening. God rest your soul, Dave.
