NKP 765 Steams Into Binghamton
Author: melalbert

NKP 765 rolled into Binghamton, NY under steam just before 5 this afternoon as part of a ferry move. It arrived from Buffalo after completing weekend excursion trips to Corning, NY. It will overnight in Binghamton before departing for its next scheduled excursion in Allentown, PA. Here it is arriving and taking on water at the former Lackawanna station.

Unfortunately, the trip south is on the rails of the CP who require it be towed behind a diesel. NS responded by making available the 1074 Lackawanna Heritage Unit to lead the ferry move and is seen here doing yard work as HO1 (including shuffling around MBTA multi-levels) while awaiting the arrival of 765.

As usual, the railfan rumor milll is wrong - again. That's all I'm going to say about this nonsense.

Thank you for the correction. You're right. I had no basis for that information and was only repeating what was said elsewhere. Perhaps publishing a small daily briefing from Operations would get everyone on the same page.

As much as I like your 765 photos, I love the photo of the Lacakawanna Heritage unit in front of the Kingsley building. That's a scene associated with EL engines from decades ago. But now that I think about it, NKP 759 was parked in front of the DL&W station about 45 years ago, too. There's a lot of "then and now" fodder with these photos!

Great pics! It's so nice to see a big steamer in NY State. Also, the Lackawanna pics are much-appreciated as well!

I didn't know that the FWRHS Was required to inform the "general railfan foaming world" of its every action and move. This train is NOT pulling any passengers and is not subject to any set schedule or route. If people want to know the exact times and routes they need become a paid member and start donating their time and become a active crew member and then they will know every little detailed report
