A couple more from the Lehigh Gorge Special.
Author: Rdg170

This past weekend was special. Rode behind super power steam over some trackage that I had not ridden over in over 40 years. Chased the 765 on Saturday and caught her near a spot where I had shot George Hart's ex-CPR 972 coming back from Reading in 1983. First photo is just below Palmerton, PA coming out of the Lehigh Gap. On Sunday I had a seat in the dome, Stampede Pass. I figured if there are no open windows or Dutch doors this was the best way to view this scenic line. The second photo is a view of the train in the gorge at M & H Junction. Occasionally you could hear the whistle or the exhaust if she was working hard and when we went through the tunnels the lingering smoke would filter into the dome so you knew what there was up front.

Track closest to river is R&N.   "Outer" track is NS.   But apparently trains from both roads may use either track.
