Steam & Excursion > BR&W "Triple Header Day"Date: 10/05/15 19:41 BR&W "Triple Header Day" Author: OCtrainguy On September 27th, the Black River & Western had a "Triple Header Day" with two trips featuring switchers 400 and 1202 along with the steam engine. The first trip was a straight run to Ringoes and back, with a short layover while crews reorganized the engines for the trip back to Flemington. The second trip included several photo runbys as it made the trip from Flemington to Ringoes and back. The weather held for the morning trip and for some of the afternoon trip before the clouds move in. Here are my photos.
1. The switchers have run around the train and will reverse to the coaches 2. Now, it's the steam engines turn 3. Several onlookers near the steam engine as it lets off some steam Then, it was time to board my train. More photos to follow. Date: 10/05/15 19:45 Re: BR&W "Triple Header Day" Author: OCtrainguy A few photos from the layover in Ringoes.
4. The Erie caboose on the end of the train 5. PRR "doodlebug" has been moved 6. The crew taking a look at the engine before heading back to Flemington A few more photos from Flemington to follow. 7. Number 400 was first 8. Number 1202 was second 9. Last but not least was number 60 And one more to share. Date: 10/05/15 19:49 Re: BR&W "Triple Header Day" Author: CPR_4000 One of my most memorable cab rides (I've only had a few) was on the 4666, with the engine roaring away inches from me.

Odd - triple header - give me 3 steam engines! Or, call me crazy, 3 diesels. Still - looked like a good time and kudos to the BR&W for doing something unique to attract new (and current) crowds. I might have to head up just to see the Doodlebug in a spot. Heard unconfirmed rumors that the owner might be looking to move it to another operation closer to know (Allentown, perhaps). I'd have loved to have seen it run at the BR&W - espeically if /when they re-open the right of way back to Lambertville. I've seen photos of it - of all places - running at the New Hope and Ivyaland. Imagine that. /Mitch Date: 10/06/15 05:22 Re: BR&W "Triple Header Day" Author: m1bprr Mgoldman Wrote:
