Fire in the Firebox 4449
Author: oregonkramer

We have a fire in the box of SP 4449 for the first time in 30 months. After a lot of last minute plumbing fixing and brick finished in the firebox we are starting our next 15 years of service Building pressure for the first full steam test and op-off check tomorrow.
Thanks to all of our volunteers who have made this possible

Mark

That's just fine, and they are even looking at my 500 psi boiler pressure gauge too.

Always good to see a group that knows what they are doing succeed, again.

What a contrast to the paid perfectionists.

Congrats to all involved!

Hmmm.   Two and a half years with a volunteer crew.  1522 came back from 35 years of sitting in two and a half years, 611 was idle for 20 years and came back in a year.  Makes you wonder.

Man I wish someone would light a fire in 1522, I live a little north of St.Louis in Illinois. It would be awesome to have an engine to get behind in this region.

Congratulations to all of those involved in completing their task of doing the require work on 4449.
I am looking forward to seeing 4449 operating back under steam again and hearing the whistle.
Welcome back 4449.

Gotta plan a major mega civic event and bring SP 4449 all the way to LA---Socal.
THis event may be many--may years in the futre.
1989 LAUPT 50th Birthday was a long--long time ago indeed (last sp 4449 visit south of Watsonville CA).
A big Giant CONGRATS to ALL who labored hard and long to make
this JOYFUL day happen on the SP 4449 crew.
A job very well done folks.
