611 was magnificent on the return trip to Greensboro.  The train stopped on an ascending grade because 611 tripped a hotbox detector.  After a crew member walked the train, the subsequent uphill start with a long train and no diesel helpers was outstanding.  Kudos to 611 and the engineer.
Two more from Roanoke.

Great pictures.  I watched the video streaming yesterday and am watching again today.
Lot's of interest in the area which is great.
Do they have to make a fuel stop or does the tender carry enough coal for the round trip?
Looks like they may be taking on water in Roanoake.
Trying to get our son who is stationed in the Navy at Quantico and has friends in Manassas to make a trip to visit his friends and get me some pictures of 611 in June.
Thanks again for all of the folks who got 611 operational again, for the donations, the volunteers and all of the great pictures.

Was this at the tunnel near Huddleston? We were waiting for the train to come through and I could hear something about a hotbox detector on someone's scanner.

I think it was the tunnel near Huddleston.
Answering a previous question, coal was added at Roanoke.

I didn't realize they took coal in Roanoke.  I saw them taking water, but must have missed the coal loading.  I also thought they had enough tender capacity to do this trip without needing to add coal during the layover, but stand corrected.

I didn't see the coal addition in Roanoke.  I was told that they took on coal.

If the hotbox detector was working, it would have gone off specifically at axle 6 on the 611. Since it wasn't working, they had to stop and walk the train before they could proceed again.
