Is This Part Of A Steam Engine?
Author: MrGrumpy

I took this picture in the CN yard in Biggar Sask. back in 1980, and I've always assumed this rusting piece of scrap was some part of an old steam engine.  I have a limited knowledge of steam, and I'm hoping somebody smarter than me can tell me what it is.  Then again, maybe it's just a piece of scrap that has nothing to do with steam...

Thanks,
Dwayne

No it is a stationary water tube boiler.

Stationary boiler, steam drum on one end, mud drum on the other with the risers and downcomers between the two.  It's laying on its side.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge guys.  I've always been curious, but never knew who to ask until I joined Trainorders a few weeks ago and saw this discussion board.
