Commemorating 844's Milestone
Author: MaryMcPherson

With all of the good work going on in Cheyenne, we are pleased to announce a new gift for your favorite railfan.

To commemorate Ed Dickens and crew's historic hydrostatic test, the good folks at Lionel Trains and True Value Hardware are pleased to introduce the Union Pacific #844 lawn sprinkler.  Just screw in the hose, turn up the pressure, and watch the water fly!

Get yours now, before they're gone!

I've been told at other (unrelated) boards I've posted to that folks got quickly trained not to take a drink of something before reading something I wrote, just in case.  Evidently some keyboards were put in mortal peril by the morning coffee being exhausted through the nasal passages.

I usually check that sense of humor at the door here, except for one post that the moderators decided was in poor taste and 86'ed.

But this idea popped into my head yesterday while working on 58, and I had to run with it.

I have to pass this on, a friend of mine commented that this is only good for watering Northern lawns.

Good catch!

I see that this sprinkler also come with flat drivers. I thought that those were fixed but clearly not so. :)

Mary, you are twisted, sick, sarcastic and evil.  Everything I like in a person.  If it were pointed the other way, the guy would be hanging 5' out of the cab window.

Mary, for all that work you could have at least done a more representative model ie one without all
the drivers mounted! Also, if your model and spray array (nice huh?) are correct, he has more problems
than tube rolling and that wonderous rear sheet!

Problem is, after two seasons the interals will be so plugged up with scale, all of the holes will be stopped up and you wont be able to use it......

THAT is the funniest thing I've seen in ......             I couldn't tell ya how long.

Todd needs to come up with a special award!!!  I suggest giving her another month free time on TO so she can come up with more of these.

On the Big Engine, that could be a way to pipe-up the blow-down discharge pipe, then we could all see if anybody actually
does DO boiler blow downs...

Wonderful adaptation, Mary!

Der Kommandant MUST have finally fallen out. Notice how the fireman hasn't even missed him. Maybe they should send a couple of German Shepherds back say... THREE YEARS and see if they can pick up a scent...
