Early the next morning we were all off on the stearnwheeler Portland. Bob Slover puts in time here when not with the 4449 and, well, steam is steam!  The AFTers numbered higher than allowed by maritime law, so the trip quickly became a charter-  we took over.

Photo 6.  We were held up about a half hour while the UPRR struggled to get The Steel Bridge to lock correctly and clear signals.
