Steam & Excursion > Camino Cable and Northern RRDate: 09/21/16 20:37 Camino Cable and Northern RR Author: Ironman I've been trying to scope out the former Camino Cable and Northern tourist RR on Google Earth. Can anyone give me a hint as to where the line started and ended? They did have an enginehouse and I was hoping to maybe use that as a benchmark if it's still there.
Thanks in advance for any help. Alan Date: 09/21/16 21:20 Re: Camino Cable and Northern RR Author: lynnpowell The CC&N depot was at the corner of Larsen Drive and 2nd Street in Camino. The line headed out to the north east through apple orchards, and then curved to the left and headed north through more orchards for about a half a mile. The line then hung a right turn and headed into pine forest. For about a mile and a half, the line headed northeast, between Happy Hollow Lane and Cable Road, and then ended at Larsen Drive. The locomotives and rolling stock were kept in a large metal building at the corner of Cable Road and Larsen Drive. The line never extended further to the east because landowners beyond the end of track refused to give them permission to relay track on the old right of way that crossed their properties. The right of way is easily recognisable on the Google Maps satellite view leaving Camino.
