Steam & Excursion > 844 Leaving Pacific this AMDate: 10/18/16 12:34 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: Frisco1522 844 visited Pacific, MO this morning and left on time at 11:45 AM. I found a spot down at the very east end of town and shot video. I was all by myself and I think someone recognized me because I got a complimentary blowdown job as it went by. Gee thanks.
Yesterday was nice and sunny and today gloomy. Never fails. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/18/16 12:35 by Frisco1522. You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today! Looks more like his index finger pointing at Don. Caption that as , "Gotcha!". Date: 10/18/16 13:19 Re: 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: glendale HotWater Wrote:

Perhaps ( just maybe ?? ) he's learned his lesson about how to treat the boiler correctly from the disasterous prior practice??

Nice video. Date: 10/18/16 16:18 Re: 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: Margaret_SP_fan That's a great video! SO sorry you got nailed by the steam.
LOVE the echoe of her beautiful whistle! And she sure seems pretty square, too. (No such thing as too many videos and pictures of the 844!) Date: 10/18/16 22:06 Re: 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: WRRC Just an observation; Mr. Dickens never waves. It is a distraction. He encourages his firemen to not wave, but to stay focused. When he does gesture, it is very pointed and intentional. He waved at me once with one finger. He also shook his head at me in disgust this year on the CFD train. This is most likely the most promenant face of the UP and he acts like a 6th grader. Rumor has it he is really upset at the 96 going to the 4449 group. This guy claims to have done all of this work to the 844 in the name of safety, then he blows down on a track side human? Wait...Safety first, or ego first?
At least now I am not the only one to have been waved at in such a manner. Awesome PR tool UP!!!! Posted from Android Date: 10/18/16 22:26 Re: 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: CaliforniaSteam WRRC Wrote:

I believe this behavior goes against UP's ethic's policy. Maybe if anyone in Omaha is checking out TO should take note. The popcorn crowd complains when they don't blow down and the results of not doing so and then some complain when they do as if it is a planned attack and and flaunting of public safety. The person shooting the video is obviously standing too close to the tracks and trespassing on railroad property. There is no clear safe exit route and he runs the possibility of being pinned between rail cars and stack of used ties. Yet no one complained about these issues only the supposition of Ed acting as though this was a planned event to bring harm in the name of revenge. Now don't take this as an attack on the poster. I find the video excellent and truly enjoy the sound of the engine. If I had been there to chase 844 I would have been right beside him doing the same thing without a second thought. I have trespassed in the past while chasing steam and most likely will in the future if my path ever crosses with 844 again. There are people everywhere whenever steam runs. On other topics: what is the rock formation in the background toward the end of the video? They don't look like natural caves. Posted from iPhone Date: 10/19/16 07:13 Re: 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: Frisco1522 I would estimate several thousand people trespassed on the property without getting a bath I'm sure it was just a "coincidence" as was the hand gesture. Strange thing was, there's about 8 miles of empty track ahead of him where they could have blown down.
I'm sure the PR Dept has a policy where its OK to do this sort of thing to those who have questioned prior actions At least I know I'm No. 1! John and I belong to an exclusive club. Date: 10/19/16 07:30 Re: 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: dougd this appears to be a deliberate act--is there a danger potential?
do you really feel he recognized you? How could he recognize you from afar? or was this just a random act of stupidity? Date: 10/19/16 07:42 Re: 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: WRRC It was deliberate. Yes, you can be injured by such an event. The water leaving the boiler at the muffler pipe is still beyond boiling. You fans that want to pretend that he walks on water don't know him like hotwater, Frisco and others of us do.
I promise, he saw Frisco at another earlier location, saw him coming up at another location and "let him have it". Rumor has it that Dickens told his crew it is time to "pay back" me, realist, hotwater, frontier, Frisco and others for all of HIS legal troubles. The "pay back" appears to have began. For the Kool Aid Klub. ...none of us have anything to do with HIS legal issues. He just has to blame somebody and he has to pay somebody back. Be careful track side, clearly safety and dignity are not priority one. Posted from Android Date: 10/19/16 08:39 Re: 844 Leaving Pacific this AM Author: Frisco1522 He knows me. I've met him, ridden with him and joined in the criticizing of what was going on with the 844. That put me on the enemy list. I harbor no ill will for him or the crew and hope things keep going smoothly because I never wished anything bad on any other group and will never do so. Probably just a little act of Karma. So be it. I'm really not a victim, just disappointed. I even got the Big Boy Tee shirt that I won full of snot from it.
At least, as I said, I know down deep inside that I'm No. 1 with him. To say I miss the "Old Days" would be an understatement. Wonder what's going on in Cheyenne while he's away? I heard somebody say some stuff was getting scrapped. |
