Bob Date: 10/20/16 15:34 Re: Back to Chama Author: Buttons2013 Question for those who may be in the know: Why are the number boards by the smoke stack on a number of locomotives in Chama left blank/empty?
Date: 10/20/16 16:10 Re: Back to Chama Author: Auburn_Ed I think they get dirty and no one cleans them. (edit) Oops, I see what you are referring to. Not the headlight numbers, but the TRAIN number board. Every engine has its own number board, but they don't use the train number boards. 463 does not have a train number board.

Looks to me like a Pyle National "winged" headlight. Thus the number boards in the "wings" are the locomotive number and are NOT "blank". Date: 10/20/16 17:30 Re: Back to Chama Author: The_Chief_Way I have often wondered about this too. The D&RGW never used these train indicators like UP and SP did. They often appeared to
have the engine number in them. Date: 10/20/16 18:05 Re: Back to Chama Author: HotWater The_Chief_Way Wrote:

John Date: 10/21/16 09:31 Re: Back to Chama Author: redarrow What a beautiful photograph. Ted Rose had to have a hand in this one.
Date: 10/21/16 11:34 Re: Back to Chama Author: Auburn_Ed Other people have said the same thing about looking like a painting (ala Ted Rose), but it is simple the result of doing everything else to the photo, then using the 'reduce noise' tool. Simple as that, it takes on a little bit of 'watercolor effect'. Truth be told, it makes some of my mediocre photos look better.
