Say what you will about modern filmmaking, but for the most part, when a steam locomotive is involved it seems to receive a lot less "makeup" today than engines did back in the golden age of Hollywood. The 463 may have actually looked like that once upon a time, see fellow K27 #451 in this 1935 view: http://digital.denverlibrary.org/cdm/ref/collection/p15330coll22/id/46755 .
