Hi could anyone enlighten me as to where the greyboiler cab fowards worked and how many were in this colour scheme   Thanks in advance Dennis

You might want to obtain a copy of Dr. Robert J. Church's book "Cab Forward". I quickly breezed through my copy, but didn't see any references to "gray boiler" cab forwards, but that doesn't mean that the subject is not covered/referred to someplace in the book.

By the way, the correct spelling is Cab Forward.

Being at work, I didn't have time for a more complete search, but I did find this:

All I did was Google "Cab Forward Gray", and actually got several results. And, IIRC, SP only painted cab roofs red on passenger power... meaning, it might​ explain the reason for an other-than-black boiler jacket... maybe.
