Steam & Excursion > N&W 611 QuestionDate: 04/23/17 11:48 N&W 611 Question Author: sptno I have been watching the N&W 611 which is currently at Roanoke, VA, pending departure at 3:00 PM their time.
I have noticed various crew member climbing on top the coal/water tender and then also going between the 'main' tender and the aux tender. Does the aux tender have a compartment that is on the engine side of the tender? Why do they keep crawling between the 'main' tender and the aux tender? It is interesting watching all of the activity. Thank for info on this interesting question. A great place to keep nasty water treatment chemicals and oil and grease containers.

On SP786, we used to store some stuff in the dog house and on top of the tender. Probably that is what they were doing. Thanks Pat South Austin, TX Date: 04/24/17 09:49 Re: N&W 611 Question Author: NKP779 Correction, the aux. tender "garage" is more like five foot deep.
