Steam & Excursion > Mexican Critter of the DayDate: 04/27/17 16:06 Mexican Critter of the Day Author: MartyBernard Here is a neat tank engine that Roger Puta found for us.
NdeM 0-6-0T 639, with (NdeT) 504 in the background in Valle de Mexico Yard, Tlalnepantla, Mexico on September 10, 1966. Looks like it was an oil burner. Enjoy, Marty Bernard Edited 2 time(s). Date: 04/27/17 17:10 Re: Mexican Critter of the Day Author: JimBaker Cylinders are between the frames working on a crank axle.
Very European and British, account of close clearances to fit clearance diagrams. James R.(Jim) Baker Whittier, CA Date: 04/27/17 17:15 Re: Mexican Critter of the Day Author: HotWater JimBaker Wrote:

OK, call me skeptical, but I think that thing is a fake. It doesn't even have a coupler. Date: 04/27/17 17:29 Re: Mexican Critter of the Day Author: Kimball I think I see a very large "Link" hanging off the rear, and maybe a short chain and big hook too? The loco behind is the more common American layout of outside cylinders etc.
Date: 04/27/17 19:30 Re: Mexican Critter of the Day Author: BAB It has a different style of every what one might call it, a hitch, a coupler or a draw bar but it has a device to tow something its not a fake of any kind just different.

504 B-3 0-6-0T 4'-8½" NdeT Google Map View Yurecuaro Depot, Yurecuaro, MIC display Kitson (Leeds), 1904 From England I would assume that 639 might be from England also Posted from iPhone Date: 04/27/17 20:02 Re: Mexican Critter of the Day Author: CPR_4000 CPRR Wrote:

Just looking at the size of the entire loco, I'm surprised it's not a 2-8-2T....it looks to be an old D&RG C-19 loco (or at least built from similar plans) at that, with a home conversion to it's configuration seen in the photo.

Apparently #639 was named "La Mochita" (translates to "The Little Saint" of the feminine gender) - she must have behaved very well when in service.
