Why not use THAT as a full size cut-away for educational purposes? In order to EVER make 1361 fully FRA compliant and eventually available for excursion service, she SHOULD have a complete new boiler/firebox assembly. I have seen this from a couple of professionals in the field, but they have never explained why it was necessary to replace perfectly good barrel courses when the boiler needs firebox work. Nobody has ever presented actual real reasons, which would include the calculations they performed to arrive at that recommendation. You might have to ask those companies/folks that have done such work/calculations on 1361, such as Bob Yuil (no retired), or the folks at Strasburg, or maybe Wasatch Railroad Contractors.
