SANTA FE 3751 TO ATTEND LOS ANGELES UNION STATION
SUMMER TRAIN FEST – JULY 15, 2017

The San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society (SBRHS) is pleased to announce that Santa Fe 3751 will participate under steam in next month’s Summer Train Fest, taking place at Los Angeles Union Station on Saturday, July 15 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During this event the locomotive will be on display at the end of Track 15 with the SBRHS’ merchandise table also present offering a wide selection of 3751 memorabilia and tickets for the chance to tour the cab of our 1927-built time machine.

Joining 3751 for this display are vintage passenger cars from the LARail.com fleet including the “Overland Trail,” a 1949-built lounge car, the “Pacific Trail,” a 1950-built long-distance chair car and the “Tioga Pass,” a 1950-built Canadian National business car. These cars will be available for guests to walk through for a trip back in-time to see what rail travel was once like for the traveling business man and woman prior to the popularity in air travel overtaking the railroads. Other exclusive equipment from Amtrak and Metrolink will be on-hand to provide a rare contrast between the past and present.

In addition to this display equipment, guests can enjoy model trains and special tutorials from the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society and Pasadena Model Railroad Club along with a Kids Zone from Griffith Park Travel Town. All the while, enjoy tunes from award-winning harmonist – Ross Garren. LA’s Premier Food Trucks and music from the city’s hottest DJ’s will be located on the South Patio.

For those interested in the movements of 3751 to and from Union Station – the locomotive is tentatively scheduled to arrive on the evening of July 14 to be spotted in its display location. At the conclusion of the event on July 15, 3751 will depart for home. Upon its arrival back at the Redondo turntable, the locomotive will be staged for a night photography session on and around the turntable for a group of 30 photographers…and you could be one of them! Check out a separate post coming soon regarding the details on this exciting chance to photograph 3751 inside Amtrak’s Los Angeles maintenance yard on the original Santa Fe turntable.

The publication contains wonderful information of the behemoths and a great spread on the refurbishment of ATSF 3751. Wonderful information and the cover price is just $9.95. No, I am not pushing the publication. Just another fan like us all.
