one of the met with the Metra train is superb! Heck, I like all of them! And thank you for showing why she runs -- the people. Look at the huge crowds she attracts! Steam is a real "people-magnet"! Your photos do tell a story. (I wonder what that trucker hauling autos thought of the 765? Another story we will never know.) Thanks to all who made this weekend's trips happen! Lima Super Power RULES! (Along with Alco! <G> And Baldwin! <G>) Date: 06/20/17 03:58 Re: Some 765 photos Author: sgriggs What was the origin of that aux water car? Looks a bit like an L&N M1 tender.
Scott Griggs Louisville, KY Date: 06/20/17 06:42 Re: Some 765 photos Author: NKP779 The Aux. tank is RPCX 767. It is a 1949 L&N Berkshire tender (Lima) that was a gift of Seaboard System in 1984 to FWRHS. 765 used this tender until 1994.. It never went to the steam shop at Birmingham. It has been rebuilt with all new wheelsets and rebuilt brake and spring rigging. Three feet of tank space was converted to a "garage" for water treatment chemicals, oils and grease. That reduced the tank capacity from 26,000 to 23,0000 gallons.
