SP #18 7/3/2017 Dedication
Author: callum_out

Three shots from today's Dedication of SP #18 and it's new home at the Eastern California Museum.
Other than a balky fireman's side injector the locomotive both ran and sounded beautiful. Mass props
to the Carson Colorado guys for an excellent job. Engine will be running at Laws in September.

It's great to see 18 running once again. I always used to stop and visit her when she was on display in Independence, on trips from SoCal to Mammoth.

Where is their engine house in relation to the old right of way? I'm bumbed that I won't get to see it, we'll be in Bishop a few weeks before. But I remember day dreaming as a kid whenever we would drive by on our fishing trips, thinking it would be great to see her run again. Hopefully I'll get to one of these days.

ROW is on the East side of town, enginehouse and museum are on the West side of town about 4 1/2 miles from the ROW. The closest
station to Independence was Kearsarge which is where the guys put down 600 or feet of track as a demonstration project.
