Southern 2839 runby at Lindsay,Va -- Sept 79

This was on an excursion from DC to Charlottesville on the C&O.
One of the trips at the great 1979 Capital Limited NRHS Convention out of Washington DC.

Thanks for the 2839 photos. She was a beauty.
I really like how good she looks in the runby.

When I think of 2839 I think of a deep chuff. Not necessarily the loudest, but one of the deepest. Her career was way too short.

Your photos of the 2839 run-by for the NRHS excursion are most interesting.
Coincidentally, yesterday, I was looking through my slides from the last half of 1979 as I plan to scan then in a few days. I noticed some slides I had taken of 2839 on a Louisville - Danville excursion.

I enjoyed the trips chasing and riding behind 2839.
Fast running, few mechanical issues.
I read where the Southern wished it had more power for longer consists but otherwise it was a fine running engine.
