Author: daniel3197 very Beauftuful vidoe of a beautful lady, steam locomotive, that I hope and dream will somehow be ALIVE again for the 2019 Golden Spike Colebration.
I know that may be crazy but that is my dream for 2019. ----Daniel Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/21/17 23:17 by daniel3197. Date: 07/22/17 00:00 Re: Rods down? ... Ok, but this ain't no stinkin' brain surgery! Author: Margaret_SP_fan Very nice! And the light is absolutely superb!
Shows all the details, which usually are not easy to see under most lighting conditions. She looks so clean and nice..... And, yes, rods down is just right to make her look very, very impressive! Thanks for the excellent look at the 3751! Date: 07/22/17 05:51 Re: Rods down? ... Ok, but this ain't no stinkin' brain surgery! Author: junctiontower I know we've had this conversation before but in 45 years of looking at steam engine pictures and 25 years of taking them, I have never once stopped to notice or CARE where the rods were positioned. I never cease to be amazed by the pointless rituals people get caught up in. The BEST steam photos are of moving trains anyway.

But not quite sure of the thread title comparison to brain surgery. I suspect most brain surgeons would have an awful time spotting a steam engine.

"This ain't rocket surgery or brain science..." Easiest....bring the brake shoes just up to the drivers, apply steam, .... when at at the 'spot', jam the brakes on... Instead of the time delay to fill the brake cylinders, all you're doing is adding a little air..and bam..you're there. It's train science... W. Date: 07/23/17 07:39 Re: Rods down? ... Ok, but this ain't no stinkin' brain surgery! Author: CPRR I to also wonder where the rods down thing started. Just having 3751 running is fine by me.
