Steam & Excursion > Chama in the DarkDate: 10/11/17 05:09 Chama in the Dark Author: Auburn_Ed I also got to photograph the Chama enginehouse before dawn the other day, seems like everyone has been there recently (a good thing).
Ed Date: 10/11/17 05:44 Re: Chama in the Dark Author: PlyWoody This photo is dated and fails the test of time because of the white pole pocket.

Well, the paint inside the pole pockets on the snow-plow equipped locomotive is "silver" (or bright aluminum). So, you are saying the D&RGW did NOT have "silver" pole pockets on snow-plow equipped locomotives "back it the day"? Date: 10/11/17 07:45 Re: Chama in the Dark Author: BoilingMan Looks like a great photo of the 487&88 in Chama to me, and I'd guess this was pretty much the intent.
SR Nailed it, Ed! Date: 10/11/17 10:52 Re: Chama in the Dark Author: andersonb109 Excellent photo. If you don't like someone's photos here, move on and keep the nit picky comments to yourself.

Your ignorance of manners & total lack of respect for one of the best photographers on the entire website is truly off the chart! Lance Garrels Manhattan, KS Date: 10/11/17 12:43 Re: Chama in the Dark Author: Auburn_Ed Actually, I took it as somewhat tongue in cheek, so no big foul. But you will give me a big head if you compliment my photos too much. Thanks all for looking.

So long as it's constructive, nit picky is a good characteristic for a railfan site. Granted, Ed did not suggest this was a photo from the 1950's, but those facts - if accurate are inter- esting and even educational. And for those attempt- ing to take nostalgic images, or set up photo charters, advantageous to point out for future charters. Nice shot, Ed! /Mitch Date: 10/11/17 13:24 Re: Chama in the Dark Author: Stevo_Weimario Wonderful photo!
I've wandered down to the yard for night shots before, but never in the early morning hours. Hmmm, another reason to get up earlier... S_W P.S. Nice meeting you at Laws a few weeks back. But shouldn't you be ABQ Ed now? Date: 10/11/17 13:43 Re: Chama in the Dark Author: Auburn_Ed I think I shall change my handle real soon. It will be "Albuquerque Ed". Changing handles is difficult. One tends to get used to them. When I flew in the Navy I was "Fast Eddy", that one from 1965 stuck for years, but, alas, was usurped by too many others.

Auburn or Albuquerque, we'll know where to find you... :-) Posted from Android Date: 10/12/17 08:33 Re: Chama in the Dark Author: up833 Well the question is out there isn't it? Silver pole pockets on snowplow equipped locos or not?
I don't really pay that close attention to those details. Its a terrific photo! Roger B |
