If you scroll down the page you will see our very own David Wilkins is now the new regulatory council for the Heritage Rail Alliance starting in the beginning of 2018. Congratulations David! TL Posted from iPhone Date: 11/25/17 09:37 Re: Congratulations to David Wilkins Author: NebraskaZephyr While David now lives in Utah and is active with the Heber Valley group, he's also still a member of Illinois Railway Museum from his days living in the Midwest and belongs to other preservation groups as well, so he is well-suited to this new role.
Can't let any mention of David's appointment go by without also giving a HUGE THANK-YOU to retiring regulatory counsel Bob Opal. Bob is a long-time member at IRM and spent his working days as a lawyer for C&NW and UP. Much of Bob's later career was working primarily in regulatory compliance for UP. So from all of us at IRM, congrats to David and three cheers for Bob! Date: 11/25/17 12:14 Re: Congratulations to David Wilkins Author: Margaret_SP_fan The Heritage Rail Alliance -- which I had never
heard of -- is the new (2016) name for the ATRRM, the Association of Tourist Railroads and Railway Museums, which was the nameof the organization formed in 2013 when the Tourist Railway Association (of North America), which was called "TRAIN" merged with the Association of Railway Museums, or "ARM". "The Heritage Rail Alliance" is a great name! Short and simple and says it all. Here is the home page for the Heritage Rail Alliance: https://www.atrrm.org/index.php and their About Us page: https://www.atrrm.org/index.php/about-us (I had to do some googling to find this info, as the page linked to in the OP did not say who this group is, and there were no clickable links to the home page for this group on that page. It was quite puzzling to read the "newsblast", and not to be able to learn anything about the group. Their regular web page is nice, however, and does say who they are. And Googling "Tourist railroad association" does give a list of "hits" with the ATRRM at the top, and when I clicked on the hope page for the ATRRM, it sent me right to the home page of the Heritage Rail Alliance -- good job, whoever made sure that happened! So -- congratulations tp David Wilkins! The Heritage Rail Alliance will be in good hands with him aboard! Highball for a great future! An internal newsletter, for members of HeritageRail, would not necessarily go out of its way to include contextual information about the organization that the recipients of the newsletter would already have. Nevertheless, there is a link - in the footer of the email. Date: 11/25/17 20:16 Re: Congratulations to David Wilkins Author: Margaret_SP_fan kelly (nathansixchime) --
Thanks! Found it! Of course an internal newsletter does not need to say anything about what the group who sent it out is all about, but I obviously did not see that clickable link, and I am pretty sure neither will most people who click on that link. Until your very helpful comment. Again -- thanks! Date: 12/01/17 12:13 Re: Congratulations to David Wilkins Author: wilkinsdm I hear this Wilkins guy is a real jerk.

Date: 12/01/17 14:17 Re: Congratulations to David Wilkins Author: wilkinsdm Seriously, I'm very humbled that Bob Opal and HRA's leadership reached out to me regarding the position. The first question I had was "Are you sure that you have the right David Wilkins?"
I look forward to working with HRA's leadership and representing the industry as a whole. Date: 12/01/17 23:14 Re: Congratulations to David Wilkins Author: Margaret_SP_fan Mr. Wilkins ---
I wish you all the best in your new position with the HRA. Love the new name. Highball for a great future for the HRA! |
