NNRY Weekend 1 wrap-up
Author: Harlock

We had a sold out weekend of 30 people, and next weekend is also sold out. #93 is back in operation after her 1472 day inspection and re-tube. She has a new-old look that dates from a certain time period when it had red pin striping and was lettered for KCC.

Steve Crise and I set up a night shoot next to the RIP building, a new location for us.

The weather was mixed lighting with no snow, but we had some good hours of sunshine on both days.

In addition to both steam locomotives, the Alcos were up and running and MU'd together for the first time in 11 years. There was also a little 4-wheeled stump puller of a mine locomotive being used for shunting, very cool little item. Always something new at the Nevada Northern.

Thanks to everyone that came and made it a good weekend.

A couple more of 40 and 93, including a doubled headed mixed train.

Critter country - the little stump puller in photo #1.

Photo two shows the Alcos with the Rotary.

I sort of like the new look. But is it authentic?

I love your night photo in Number 1. Photos with the crew at work always tug at my heart strings.

Apparently yes with the possible exception of the stripe on the tender.

The NNRY engines went through many looks and this is but one of them. At one point all the engines were a dark green!

Another Mike Massee gem; you always deliver good stuff! I make sure to see all your posts, both here and on Chaski for the model stuff.

Very Nice Images! ... thanks for sharing the post!

The images do take you back into the past and the
Kennecott Copper Corporation was a major player in
the development of the West. Kudos to the NNRY for
making the effort ...

As an aside, went to grad school at the
Mackay School of Mines (in Geology) at the University of
Nevada Reno and was fortunate to tour the Ruth Mine
and the McGill Mill and Smelter Complex a couple of times back
in the early 1970's ... that operation was also "living history"!
