Steam & Excursion > "Headin' Home" with 8444 -- a series 7of 10Date: 03/18/18 06:38 "Headin' Home" with 8444 -- a series 7of 10 Author: Copy19 Typical of stops I usually spent time talking to reporters. In this case I'm answering questions for a radio station. Many young reporters, and most of them were young, couldn't quite put steam locomotives in context. Sometimes extreme patience was required. One interview in particular I'll always remember is when I was doing a TV interview with a young woman whose first question was: "Tell me. What's that big black thing on the front of the train?" Her cameraman standing behind her did a great eye roll. I managed to keep a straight face.
Standing in front of us in this view is Gordon (Sandy) McCulloh. As the train rolled north we had encountered several southbound Katy coal trains. I prophetically mused that with all that traffic perhaps UP should take a look at the Katy. Two years later it was part of our railroad. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/18/18 06:40 by Copy19. It's all your fault then John! ;) KC - Who do we blame for CNW and SP fading away? Date: 03/18/18 11:57 Re: "Headin' Home" with 8444 -- a series 7of 10 Author: Copy19 GRNDMND Wrote:

Everybody already thought CNW was part of UP and Harriman grabbed the SP generations ago. :-) Date: 03/18/18 15:48 Re: "Headin' Home" with 8444 -- a series 7of 10 Author: Bob3985 That's a great photo of you and Sandy.
