Steam & Excursion > This Crew Was Glad They Were High And Dry On This Day!Date: 04/12/18 04:03 This Crew Was Glad They Were High And Dry On This Day! Author: LoggerHogger It was December 14, 1946 and flooding has taken place in Glenwood, Oregon. Fortunately for Engineer Glen Gilmore and Fireman Jimmy Coon they are traveling above the flooded streets with their Cab-Forward #4281 on this winter day.
Let's hope they can miss any more low spots on their run this day. Martin Edited 4 time(s). Last edit at 04/12/18 10:52 by LoggerHogger. Date: 04/12/18 06:47 Re: This Crew Was Glad They Were High And Dry On This Day! Author: jkh2cpu Interesting... and where in Glendale is this
approximately? John. Date: 04/12/18 07:46 Re: This Crew Was Glad They Were High And Dry On This Day! Author: BAB Like the folks in the picture hard to tell which they are looking at the train or the flood.

I grew up in Glendale and worked for the SP out of Los Angeles (in the Engineering Dept.) and I cannot recall any place where the SP is up on an embankment or trestle like that. But I was only 2 years old in 1946... Date: 04/12/18 10:08 Re: This Crew Was Glad They Were High And Dry On This Day! Author: LoggerHogger As for the location, the photo was actually labeled "Glenwood". I could not find a Glenwood and assumed it was Glendale.
If someone knows were Glenwood is I wouldlove to know. Martin Date: 04/12/18 10:30 Re: This Crew Was Glad They Were High And Dry On This Day! Author: railstiesballast Thanks, Logger.
Glenwood Oregon is between Eugene and Springfield along the Willamette River, a more likely location for this photo. Google Earth knows how to find it. Date: 04/12/18 10:34 Re: This Crew Was Glad They Were High And Dry On This Day! Author: LoggerHogger Thanks for the correction. I missed that Glenwood. All I originally found for Glenwood, Oregon was in the Oregon Coast range. Now I see the town you are referring to.
That make much more sense. Martin Date: 04/12/18 10:43 Re: This Crew Was Glad They Were High And Dry On This Day! Author: CPRR Martin, here is the exact location in Glenwood, OR.. Might want to change your post to reflect the new location.
