Steam & Excursion > Polson Logging #2 Returns To Logging Duties On OCSR!Date: 05/20/18 13:51 Polson Logging #2 Returns To Logging Duties On OCSR! Author: LoggerHogger I spent the last 3 days over on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad getting ready for my Photo Charter that we ran yesterday.
We had 3 long days. 2 for the preparation and the movement of engines and equipment from Tillamook to Garibaldi and one day and night for the charter itself. This the debut of our putting Polson Logging Company #2 into service. She ran just beautifully. Several of us took turns running her and the consensus is that she is tight and very smooth to run. Here just a few of the photos I took when I was not in the cab on engine duty. Martin Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/20/18 14:13 by LoggerHogger. Author: LoggerHogger Here are a few more. Seated in the last photo is Skip Lichter who owns Polson #2 and has spent most of his life caring for the engine. He has personally rebuilt her 3 different times during his lifetime.
We are glad to have Skip and Gail and Polson #2 at their new home on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. Martin Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/20/18 13:57 by LoggerHogger. Author: LoggerHogger Besides #2 we had McCloud #25 on a mixed freight that carried my photographers and was also ready for her own run-bys.
All in all, a great 3 days. Martin Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/20/18 14:14 by LoggerHogger. Date: 05/20/18 15:47 Re: Polson Logging #2 Returns To Logging Duties On OCSR! Author: refarkas An "A+" presentation.
Bob Date: 05/20/18 16:06 Re: Polson Logging #2 Returns To Logging Duties On OCSR! Author: PatM I was at OCSR in 2015. I think I remember seeing a bare bones boiler in the shop.
Did it belong to this locomotive? Also, there was an articulated locomotive that was being put back together. Was it still there and did you get any images of it? Thanks. Pat Date: 05/20/18 16:11 Re: Polson Logging #2 Returns To Logging Duties On OCSR! Author: LoggerHogger PatM Wrote:

That boiler is for Sierra #30. The Articulate is the Skookum. You can find my earlier postings of that engine on this forum. Author: Sasquatch Outstanding photos Martin and Dave(?); and a fantastic photo special along the beautiful and very scenic Oregon coast!
Thank you Martin and Pete Lerro and all the skilled OCSR railroaders and volunteers who made this all possible...and thanks especially to Skip and Gail for sharing their lovingly restored logging lokie with us on the OCSR! Hopefully a couple of the drone photographers attending this weekend's events will post some of their video for us when they get the time. See you again in October! -Tom Date: 05/21/18 07:17 Re: Polson Logging #2 Returns To Logging Duties On OCSR! Author: czuleget For what reason is the pilot covered? I have never seen this done on other steam locomotives.

The cover is to protect the wood pilot from when it runs in snow and ice. Here is the pilot uncovered. Skip Lichter, the engines owner, has the wood a natural color. I left the cover on so it did not stand out in the photos. Martin Date: 05/21/18 18:03 Re: Polson Logging #2 Returns To Logging Duties On OCSR!
